Can I transfer ownership of my moped online?
Are you buying a moped from someone? Then you’ll need to transfer the registration to your name. You can do this at an RDW inspection station, an RDW service counter, a PostNL location, or a vehicle registration office, but you can also transfer the registration online. Where can I transfer ownership of my moped online?
You can transfer ownership of your moped online on the RDW website. To do this, you’ll need the DigiD app. When you transfer ownership of the moped online, the RDW must, of course, be certain that you are the person transferring ownership. That’s why you must have a DigiD app with ID verification. If you do not have this, you’ll need to raise your DigiD login level once by verifying your ID. You can find more information about this on the DigiD website. If you’ve already completed this verification, you can log in directly through the app and transfer ownership of the moped online.
Requirements for Transferring Ownership of a Moped Online
There are a number of requirements for transferring ownership of a moped online:
- You must have a vehicle registration card and a registration code. You cannot transfer ownership of the moped online using a paper registration certificate.
- You are an individual or own a sole proprietorship
- You must have the DigiD app with ID verification
- You must have a valid Dutch ID
How do I transfer ownership of a moped online?
Transferring ownership of a moped online is very easy. You can follow these steps:
- Go to“Transfer Vehicle Ownership.” You will then be taken to the DigiD screen. You can log in here
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- Pay the €12.50 fee using iDEAL | Wero. The vehicle will not be transferred immediately after you pay. The RDW must first process the payment. This usually takes up to a few hours.
- After payment, you will receive an email confirming that your request is being processed. The email will also include a link that allows you to track the status of your request.
- You will then receive a second email stating that the moped has been transferred. The moped is not actually transferred until you receive the second email. From that moment on, you are responsible for the APK inspection and the motor vehicle tax, and you are required to purchase moped insurance.
- You will also receive a third email containing a link to the certificate of clearance, the registration report, and the first part of the registration code. You should give the certificate of clearance to the seller.
- Finally, you will receive the license plate card and the second part of the registration code by mail.
